Different Styles Of Hearing Aids
BTE With Earmold
BTEs with earmolds resemble traditional aids but offer powerful digital processing, suitable for mild to profound hearing loss. Their behind-ear shape includes features like volume control. Style and hairstyle affect how they appear on each user.
Invisible In The Canal (IIC)
IIC instruments are the smallest custom style on the market today. They rest invisibly in, just beyond the second bend of the ear canal. IIC devices are specifically designed for those with mild to moderate hearing losses in mind.
Completely-In-The-Canal (CIC)
CIC instruments are custom styled to fit completely inside the ear canal but not as deep as IIC devices. They are suitable for mild to moderate hearing losses. As they’re nearly invisible when worn, many people find them cosmetically appealing.
In-The-Canal (ITC)
ITC instruments sit in the lower outer ear bowl, offering comfort and ease of use. Their size allows longer battery life and features like directional microphones and volume control, ideal for mild to moderate hearing loss and noisy environments.
In-The-Ear (ITE)
Full shell models fit flush in the outer ear bowl. Their larger size allows more controls, directional mics, and bigger batteries for more power and longer life. They're ideal for mild to severe hearing loss and suit glasses or oxygen cannula users.
Receiver-In-Ear (RIC)
The RIC models are like mini BTEs and look quite similar to them when worn. The main difference is that their speaker is incorporated into the ear tip rather than the main unit of the device. RICs are good for mild to severe hearing losses.

How Will I Know If I Need A Hearing Aid?
Your family may have noticed you do not hear as well as you did before, and they’ll begin advising you to have your hearing checked. Other indicators include struggling to communicate well with others or keeping up with your typical lifestyle, but the only way to know for sure is to consult an audiologist for a professional, comprehensive hearing assessment.
