What Is The Best Hearing Aid Accessory?

by | Feb 18, 2020 | Hearing Aids, Hearing Loss, Patient Resources

These days, hearing aids are incredibly sophisticated devices. They don’t just perform one function, but they can be paired with a variety of accessories to enhance the wearer’s experience. Most have Apple connectivity, allowing you to stream sounds through your iPhone or iPad. But one of our audiologists’ all-time favorite accessories is the ReSound Multi Mic. Want to know more? Let’s take a look at its features.

How Does It Work?

The ReSound Multi Mic elevates the volume of individual voices in environments where you might have trouble hearing. To do this, you can either place the device on a flat surface between a number of people or fasten it onto a person’s jacket or shirt. The microphone then precisely picks out your chosen speakers and wirelessly transfers their sounds to your hearing aid within a range of 80 feet. You can also connect the ReSound Multi Mic to any appliance that has a headphone socket, so you can stream audio at a level suiting your needs.

Cutting Through Crowds

Some of the places our patients often use the ReSound Multi Mic are in cafés and restaurants where lots of people are talking at once. In these situations, you simply place the device between yourself and a loved one to chat freely without feeling uncomfortable or distracted. Similarly, if you take a long car journey with a number of relatives, then traffic noises, loud music, and rushing wind can make it hard to maintain conversations. With the ReSound Multi Mic’s clip capability, however, you can place it onto someone’s seatbelt or clothing to maintain conversations without any problems.

Handy At Home

Hearing aid users also find that the ReSound Multi Mic is very useful for increasing the volume of different electronic appliances at home. For example, when watching a film on the television with a number of people, it can be hard for hearing aid wearers to find a volume that suits everyone. Instead of asking to raise the general sound level, those with the ReSound Multi Mic can simply place their device next to the television’s speaker. They can then change the volume in their hearing aid to a position that’s perfect and join an experience that they otherwise couldn’t take part in.

Useful At Meetings

Another great feature of the ReSound Multi Mic is that it has a telecoil feature that can be activated in different situations. If, for instance, you’re at a church that has a loop system installed, you can simply switch the ReSound Multi Mic to pick up a minister’s sermon directly. Likewise, if you attend a town hall meeting, you can use the device to hear a community spokesperson’s speech over audience participation and applause. The telecoil feature works as long as you’re connected to the radio signal within the room, so you can be further than 80 feet to make it work.
