Across America, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought changes to how people live their lives. This is no different in San Antonio. Community centers and local businesses, once bustling with people, have been left silent and dormant.
Social distancing measures are intended to prevent those who are most vulnerable from contracting the deadly virus. The health and wellbeing of every patient is extremely important to the team at Audicles, especially those who are most at risk within our community.
But we don’t believe patients’ access to audiologists should be eroded during this time of crisis. That’s why we’re proud to introduce Virtual Audicles – a new way for every person to access advanced hearing care from their homes, now and in the future.
What is a Virtual Audicles Appointment?
At its heart, Virtual Audicles is a new model for how patients can interact with their doctor of audiology on a regular basis.
Traditionally, someone would have to travel to our office, present themselves to a care coordinator, and then speak to their doctor of audiology in their office. It’s been this way for decades – a convention that some patients have loved, and others have found inconvenient.
A Virtual Audicles appointment cuts down this lengthy process dramatically. Using a smartphone, tablet, or computer, patients can now schedule face-to-face appointments via video link, while respecting social distancing measures.
Hundreds of audiology clinics were forced to close down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is Audicles’ innovative way of ensuring patients receive essential hearing healthcare assistance and guidance, no matter the situation.
How Does it Work?
Audicles is offering Virtual Audicles appointments to both new and existing patients. Those who have never spoken to a doctor of audiology can arrange a complimentary, no-obligation, 15-minute consultation to discuss any issues and receive guidance on the best way forward.
For those who are worried about a possible hearing loss, this is an excellent, confidential way to receive more information.
Current patients who would have previously come into Audicles’ hearing center for a check-up can now schedule this via Virtual Audicles. This is made even more effective by “remote assist” technology.
Through the use of an internet connection and a manufacturer’s app, an audiologist can make programming changes to someone’s hearing device while they remain in their own home.
Movement restrictions could become the new norm, and we’ve adjusted our services to ensure every patient has the opportunity to stay at home if they wish. This is truly revolutionizing how we work.
